Ad Grants Pilot helps nonprofits get more out of their Google Ad Grants budget using AI. We handle campaign setup, keyword research, and ad creation automatically, so your team can focus on your mission instead of managing ads.
We just shipped a round of major upgrades. Here’s what’s new.
Support for Performance Max Campaigns
You can now launch Performance Max campaigns directly from Ad Grants Pilot. If you’re not familiar, Performance Max is a goal-based campaign type from Google that runs ads across Search, Display, YouTube, Gmail, and Discover, all from a single campaign. Note: Within Ad Grants accounts, Performance Max campaigns currently serve ads on Search and Maps only.
Google only started Performance Max within Ad Grants accounts in 2025, and early results have been impressive. We’ve found it to be one of the most effective ways to spend your Ad Grants budget.
Just like everything else in Ad Grants Pilot, your Performance Max campaign assets (headlines, descriptions, images, and audience signals) are auto-populated for you and editable before you push the ads live.
Support for Multiple Campaigns
Users are no longer limited to a single campaign. You can now create multiple campaigns within one account, which opens up a lot of strategic flexibility. The primary use case is setting up different campaigns with unique geographic or language targeting.
For example, a nonprofit could run one campaign targeting a specific U.S. state with localized keywords and landing pages, another running nationally, and a third targeting international audiences in a different language, all managed from the same Ad Grants Pilot dashboard.
Smarter AI-Powered Campaign Building
We performed a major overhaul of the AI engine that powers ad group creation. It now incorporates direct website scraping to better understand each organization, expanded use of keyword research APIs to surface higher-volume terms, and fine-tuned prompts designed to generate ad groups with search terms that are both high-traffic and highly relevant to the mission.
The result is stronger campaigns right out of the gate.
Automated Sitelink Extensions
Sitelink extensions are the additional links that appear below a Google ad, pointing users to specific pages on a website, like a donation page, volunteer sign-up, or about page. They make ads larger, more useful, and significantly improve click-through rates. Google recommends them as a best practice.
Ad Grants Pilot now auto-generates sitelinks automatically, and they can be reviewed and edited anytime in Account Settings.
All of these features are available right now.
